Applying for a Reception place for a September 2019 start?

The school is holding three open days for prospective parents of children starting school in September 2019.  There are two open mornings, one on 2nd October, the other 4th October. There is then an open classroom on 9th October. We would like to encourage parents to attend to learn about the school and our ethos on either the 2nd or 4th (plus a school tour) and to see Reception Class in action on 9th. We welcome prospective parents (and children) throughout the year.  The exact date for offers has yet to be announced by KCC but will be made in April 2019.

Entry into Reception class

We have one intake each year of 30 pupils, at the start of the Autumn Term. Reception pupils are normally admitted to school in the September following their 4th birthday. Prospective parents are most welcome to make an appointment to look around our school or to visit on one of our Open Days, held in September and October.

Following the national offer day in April, we begin the process of ensuring every child’s entry into school is happy and relaxed. In the Summer Term before the September start, parents are invited to an Information Evening to find out more about the school, how we work and to ask any questions. This meeting also gives parents the opportunity to meet and talk with the Reception class teacher and other support staff.  Our Reception teacher will also visit the area preschools to get acquainted with the children in a familiar environment for them.  In July, children are invited to visit the Reception class on three afternoons, the first with parents staying with their child.

Entry into Years 1 – Years 6

Parents of older children, moving into the area, are welcome to make an appointment to visit the school and to discuss admission with the Headteacher. Unlike admission into Reception, an application for a place in the older year groups can be directed straight to the school office.  Please contact the office for more information.

The school’s full admissions policy can be accessed here.
