Governors

The role of the Governing Body is to work with the headteacher and the staff in their aim to provide a high standard of education for all pupils in a Christian environment.  The Governing Body helps the Senior Leadership Team set ambitious targets for school improvement and strive for excellence across the spectrum of school life.  The day-to-day management of the school is the responsibility of the headteacher and staff.

The Governing Body’s legal duties include:-

  • setting strategic objectives and direction
  • approving the school budget
  • reviewing progress against the school’s budget and development plan
  • ratifying school policies
  • appointing, challenging and supporting the headteacher

The Full Governing Body (FGB) meets every six weeks.  In addition, each governor serves on a number of working committees.  These committees provide the Full Governing Body with information and guidance to inform strategic decisions. The minutes of Governing Body meetings are available via the school office.

The thirteen governors bring a wide range of expertise and experience to the board. Governors are appointed as parent, church (foundation), local authority, Co-opted or staff governors.

Below is a table listing the current governing body members and their roles along with details for the past academic year.
